ETHNOPEDAGOGICAL VALUES REPRESENTED IN NIAS PROVERBS

Ethnopedagogy is the empirical experience of ethnic groups in the education and upbringing of children, the cultivation of aesthetic and ethical-moral values based on the primordial values of family, clan, tribe, and nation. Ethnopedagogy can increase awareness of duties and responsibilities in the midst of society, increase awareness of national values, and give identity as a local community Ethnopedagogy belonging to each ethnic group can be traced through the culture that belongs to both material and non-material. Proverbs are a form of oral tradition that contains local wisdom as one of the intelligences of the community that owns it. This research intends to reveal ethnopedagogical values in Nias proverbs by using a qualitative approach and summative content analysis techniques as an analysis tool. Based on the results of data analysis, it was found that ethnopedagogical values in Nias proverbs include example, self-confidence, competence, answering challenges, analytical, consistent and disciplined, empathy, tolerance and cooperation, fairness and goodness, and creative and innovative, the findings of this research can be socialized to the general public and used as learning materials in schools. Advanced research can be carried out using phenomenological and similar research designs.
